Brazil can contribute software to world astronomy

The National Observatory sees an interesting opportunity for Brazil to participate in major world astronomy projects by developing scientific software. The idea makes sense where there’s more need for intelligence than heavy infrastructure, the country can contribute with quality.

A concrete example already works in the Dark Energy Survey, where Brazilian software integrates an international collaboration of US$ 10 billion to map the sky. The new experiments produce gigantic volumes of data that need to be processed and analyzed, and that’s exactly where Brazil can enter with computing knowledge to transform raw data into scientific discoveries.
